On August 4th, 2020 at 6.08 Beirut experienced one of the largest non-nuclear blasts in history. Since then, Lebanon has plummeted even deeper into an abyss of economic and financial oblivion, political paralysis, and despair which it had begun sinking into long before the explosion. More than 50% of the population lives below the poverty line. The currency lost more than 90% of its value against the dollar. Fuel is in short supply, little power, thousands of businesses have closed and unemployment has skyrocketed. Baby formula has also disappeared and life-saving medicines are no longer available in pharmacies.
